A Rite of Fancy Book Recommendation and Review
A Short Summary:
The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger follows Andrea Sachs, a recent college graduate who lands a coveted job as assistant to Miranda Priestly, the powerful and demanding editor of a top fashion magazine. What seems like a dream opportunity quickly becomes an all-consuming and nearly impossible position.
As Andrea struggles to keep up with relentless expectations and impossible standards, she is forced to confront the personal cost of ambition. The novel offers a behind-the-scenes look at the fashion industry while exploring identity, priorities, and the question of what success is really worth.

My Review:
This one is just fun, but it’s doing more than it lets on.
The Devil Wears Prada is fast, sharp, and full of those “you have got to be kidding me” moments that make it incredibly readable. The workplace chaos, the impossible demands, the constant pressure, it all feels exaggerated, but just believable enough to hit a nerve.
At its core, though, this isn’t really about fashion. It’s about ambition and how quickly your life can get consumed by chasing the wrong version of success. Andrea’s slow realization that the job she thought she wanted might not actually be worth it is what gives the story weight.
It’s light compared to a lot of what you read, but it sticks because the question it asks is real: how much are you willing to give up to “make it”?
Fun read. Corporate shenanigans at their finest. And just enough bite underneath the surface to make you think.
