A detective searches for answers about her sister's cold case.

 A short summary:

My Sister’s Grave by Robert Dugoni follows homicide detective Tracy Crosswhite as she reopens the cold case of her sister’s murder, a crime that has haunted her family for decades. When new evidence surfaces, Tracy is forced to confront both the limits of the original investigation and the emotional cost of seeking long-delayed answers.

As the case unfolds, the search for truth collides with buried secrets, small-town loyalties, and moral compromise. Tracy’s professional skills and personal history intertwine, turning the investigation into something deeply personal and dangerous. What began as a private ache becomes a race against time to uncover what really happened all those years ago.

My favorite Robert Dugoni quote from the book:

"Sometimes our questions are best left unanswered."
- Robert Dugoni, My Sister's Grave

Quote reading “Sometimes our questions are best left unanswered” by Robert Dugoni over a red-toned highway landscape.

Questions to ponder while reading:

What decision still haunts you?

Have you ever been called obsessive?

My review of:

My Sister’s Grave is a compulsively readable thriller. I genuinely couldn’t put it down. Dugoni balances procedural detail with emotional weight, making Tracy’s obsession feel both justified and heartbreaking.

The guilt surrounding the unresolved loss is palpable. It’s impossible not to imagine how living with unanswered questions for decades would warp memory, identity, and hope. Every revelation adds pressure, tightening the story’s grip.

And the plot twist? Completely unexpected. The resolution recontextualizes everything that came before it without feeling cheap or manipulative. This is a tense, emotionally charged mystery that earns its surprises and sticks the landing.
