Through Morgaine, Viviane, Igraine, Gwenhwyfar, and others, the familiar story is reframed as a complex struggle between faiths, loyalties, and the slow turning of cultural tides.
Rather than glorifying conquest or destiny, the novel examines power as it is lived, negotiated in private rooms, religious rites, and personal sacrifices.
