A Rite of Fancy Book Recommendation and Review
A short summary:
The Return of the King brings J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic journey to its close as the War of the Ring reaches its final reckoning. While armies clash and kingdoms rise or fall, the heart of the story remains with small, weary travelers carrying a burden far larger than themselves.
As Aragorn steps into his long-awaited role and Middle-earth faces the shadow of Sauron, Frodo and Sam press on toward Mount Doom. Victory, Tolkien reminds us, is never clean or painless. Even when evil is defeated, the cost is lasting, and the world that emerges is not the one that existed before.

My review:
An epic about trust, friendship, and endurance.
At its core, The Return of the King asks deeply human questions. Do you have someone you can trust when the road grows unbearable? Can you succeed without friendship? Tolkien’s answer is clear: strength alone is not enough.
This is the end of a long, long journey, one marked as much by fatigue and grief as by triumph. Friendship, loyalty, mercy, and sacrifice carry more weight here than swords or crowns. Even the smallest acts of faithfulness matter.
Tolkien is a master of description, but his true genius lies in restraint. He allows sorrow to exist alongside hope, acknowledging that some wounds never fully heal. Not all tears are evil. This is a story for the ages precisely because it understands that endurance, not dominance, is what finally saves the world.
