Emily Griffin and the mystery of the Feather Nest Killer.

A short summary:

The Girl in Cabin 13 follows FBI profiler Emily Griffin as she is drawn into the chilling mystery of the Feather Nest Killer, a case rooted in isolation, memory, and the long shadows cast by past trauma. Set against a cold, atmospheric backdrop, the novel moves between investigative tension and psychological unease as Emily pieces together fragments of evidence that refuse to stay neatly in the past. The story leans heavily on mood and intuition, unfolding as a compact mystery that keeps its focus on character as much as clues.

My favorite quote from the book:

"Doesn't just about everybody have an 'all considering' in their past?"

Questions to ponder while reading:

How do you picture a serial killer?

What are the appropriate actions of an FBI agent?

My review:

This was a quick, entertaining mystery with a strong sense of atmosphere, icy, enclosed, and just uncomfortable enough to keep the pages turning. Emily Griffin is a likable lead, and while the plot occasionally feels a bit clunky in its transitions, the emotional beats mostly land. The story doesn’t try to reinvent the genre, but it does deliver a satisfying, low-commitment read. Also, I sympathized deeply with Emily’s constant cold. If you’ve ever felt chilled to the bone by both weather and circumstance, this book will feel familiar.
