A Rite of Fancy Book Recommendation and Review
A short summary:
The Shadow Rising sends the ta’veren beyond familiar borders and into the heart of legend itself. As Rand, Mat, and Perrin are drawn in different directions, the story descends, quite literally, into the Aiel Waste, where prophecy, history, and identity converge in ways that reshape the entire series.
This installment deepens the world's mythology in sweeping fashion. Cultures once hinted at are fully realized, ancient truths are uncovered, and long-held assumptions quietly collapse. The lines between past and present blur, revealing that the Pattern is far more intricate and far less forgiving than anyone imagined.
The Wheel turns, and its shadows lengthen.

My review:
Book four of fourteen, and this is where The Wheel of Time truly earns its reputation.
The cross-world twists are among the most compelling so far, seamlessly weaving lore, prophecy, and lived experience. Jordan expands the scope without losing control, layering legends upon legends while maintaining narrative momentum.
What stands out most is the confidence of the storytelling. The world-building becomes richer and more assured, rewarding attentive readers with depth rather than repetition. This is less about spectacle and more about foundation—setting stones that will matter many books later.
A pivotal, immersive installment that signals the series is no longer warming up.
