The saga of searching for the Horn of Valere

A short summary:

The Great Hunt propels The Wheel of Time forward with urgency and scope as the search for the legendary Horn of Valere drives the story across borders, cultures, and increasingly dangerous terrain. What begins as a single quest quickly fractures into multiple pursuits, some intentional, others inevitable.

As the chase unfolds, the world widens. New lands, factions, and mythologies emerge, and the lines between history and legend blur. The Pattern tightens around its chosen threads, revealing that the Horn is not merely an object to be found but a catalyst that awakens the past and reshapes the future.

My favorite quote from the book:

"Whatever comes, face it on your feet."
- Robert Jordan, The Great Hunt

Questions to ponder while reading:

Do you blindly follow those in authority?

Is slavery ever justified?

My review:

Book two of what becomes a fifteen-book commitment, and The Great Hunt makes it clear that settling in is not optional.

The character development here is particularly strong, relationships deepen, tensions sharpen, and motivations grow more complex. The plot is in near-constant motion, juggling a remarkable number of moving parts without losing cohesion.

It’s ambitious, occasionally breathless, and deliberately layered. You can feel the author testing how much story he can carry at once, and mostly succeeding. This is the installment that confirms the series won’t stay small or safe for long.

A confident, expanding step forward.
