Winter returns, hearts freeze, and Mat meets his match.

A short summary:

In Winter’s Heart, the Wheel of Time turns toward icy peril as the powerful Bowl of the Winds is used to correct the unnatural heat plaguing the world. As winter returns, the Dragon Reborn, Rand al’Thor, faces both the freezing of his heart and the mounting weight of prophecy. At the same time, Mat Cauthon finally encounters an adversary who tests his luck and cunning like never before. Friendships, battles, and long-hidden truths collide in a story where the elements themselves are wielded as weapons, and destinies are reshaped under the chill of winter.

My favorite quote from the book:

"We are all fools if we live long enough."

Questions to ponder while reading:

Do you believe in prophecy?

Would you risk everything for your sanity?

My review:

Book 9 of 14! Can you believe we’re this far into the series? At this point, I’m genuinely worried, seriously, her hair is going to fall out from all the stress and chaos! The stakes just keep getting higher, and the characters are being pushed to their absolute limits.

I have to admit, I expected a different outcome from the cleansing. It wasn’t quite what I had in mind, and it left me reeling for a bit. But that’s part of the thrill, isn’t it? Just when you think you can predict the story, it twists in ways that make you gasp, laugh, and keep turning pages late into the night. If you’re invested in these characters (who isn’t?), this installment is both frustrating and utterly addictive.
