A Rite of Fancy Book Recommendation and Review
A short summary:
What begins as a quiet retreat for a struggling couple quickly curdles into something far more unsettling. As secrets surface and past traumas refuse to stay buried, the getaway becomes a slow descent into psychological terror.
The deeper the couple digs into their history, the more disturbing the revelations become. Long-suppressed truths emerge, identities fracture, and the sense of safety steadily erodes. Every Single Secret thrives on atmosphere and dread, proving that the most dangerous horrors are often rooted in what people choose not to say.

My review:
This book is deeply, viscerally unsettling.
Emily Carpenter excels at crafting a creeping sense of menace, one that builds quietly rather than announcing itself outright. The tension is relentless, the emotional stakes personal, and the psychological manipulation chillingly effective.
It’s genuinely disturbing.
It’s undeniably creepy.
And it is extremely hard to put down.
What makes Every Single Secret so effective is its plausibility. The characters’ fears feel earned, the unraveling believable, and the horror grounded in human behavior rather than spectacle. This is a thriller that trusts discomfort over shock value, and that restraint makes it all the more powerful.
Not an easy read, but a compulsive one.
