A short summary:

Never Lie follows newlyweds Tricia and Ethan as they tour a remote, imposing house once owned by a notorious psychiatrist. Snowed in during their visit, Tricia begins exploring the home and uncovers hidden recordings that document disturbing therapy sessions and long-buried secrets tied to the house itself. What begins as an ordinary real-estate showing quickly turns into a psychological descent, where the past refuses to stay buried, and every room seems to hold something waiting to be discovered.

My review of the book:

This is a fast-moving psychological thriller that leans hard into atmosphere and tension, with twists that arrive quickly and rarely let up. McFadden keeps the pages turning through short chapters and escalating unease, though the characters themselves feel emotionally distant and sharply materialistic, making them harder to fully relate to. Still, the book succeeds at what it sets out to do: entertain, unsettle, and surprise. It’s a solid choice for readers looking for a dark, binge-able thriller rather than deep character introspection.
