At its core, the novel leans into classic thriller mechanics, clues, misdirection, and mounting danger while anchoring the chaos in character-driven tension. The result is a propulsive mystery that prioritizes suspense and shock, keeping readers turning the pages even as the body count rises.

My review:
This is a fun, thrilling read, the kind of crime novel that knows exactly what it’s doing and doesn’t pretend to be something else. Bryndza delivers a sharp pace, plenty of tension, and a villain memorable for all the wrong reasons.
That said, the characters, particularly Kate, can be frustrating. Decisions feel impulsive, and emotional entanglements occasionally undermine professional judgment, pulling the reader out of the investigation and into eye-rolling territory. It serves, once again, as a cautionary reminder: personal boundaries at work exist for a reason.
Even with those drawbacks, Nine Elms succeeds as a compulsive thriller. It’s not subtle or delicate, but it is engaging, high-energy, and unapologetically entertaining.
