Welcome to the Bucket List Book Adventure

A vintage suitcase filled with old books, symbolizing the Bucket List Book Adventure and a lifelong journey through classic literature and great ideas.

Welcome to the Bucket List Book Adventure!

Here is the list of all the books I want to read (yes, there are more than 550 of them!).

This literary bucket list began after I read Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. One of the core lessons in that book is to take responsibility for your own growth, to actively make up for what you feel you have lost or missed out on.

For me, one of those “losses” was never earning a Great Works degree, the kind of education that dives deep into the foundational texts that have shaped human thought, faith, and imagination. So I decided to build my own version.

I began with the Great Books Curriculum from St. John’s College, a program renowned for its deep exploration of Western philosophy, literature, science, and theology. But once I began, I realized I didn’t want to stop there. I wanted to include the Great Eastern Works to gain insight into the wisdom of the other side of the world, and then the early Christian Classics to deepen my spiritual understanding. And because I don't want to deepen my understanding of how Christianity came to be, I've also included Jewish Classics as well.

And that’s how the Bucket List Book Adventure was born, an ambitious, lifelong reading quest through the ideas, faiths, and stories that have shaped our civilization.

Some of these books are challenging, some are comforting, and some will probably frustrate me, but all of them will teach me something about life, faith, and the human spirit.

So here we go.
Let’s see how far I get.
(Click on the links for my review!)

And of course, I'll continue to share my thoughts on the other things I've read as well.

P.S. Every great journey deserves a few good books to bring along.
