Tales of demon fighting and the effect on the people possessed.

A short summary:

Diary of an American Exorcist by Stephen G. Rossetti offers a firsthand look into the rarely discussed ministry of Catholic exorcism. Drawing from pastoral experience rather than spectacle, Rossetti recounts encounters with demonic oppression and possession while consistently emphasizing the profound human cost—both to those afflicted and to the families, clergy, and communities surrounding them.

Rather than focusing solely on dramatic confrontation, the book explores the spiritual, psychological, and emotional dimensions of evil, underscoring how spiritual warfare quietly permeates ordinary lives. Prayer, discernment, and perseverance emerge as central themes, reminding the reader that this ministry is as much about healing and mercy as it is about resistance.

My favorite Stephen J. Rossetti Quote from the book:

God is never outdone in generosity.

Questions to ponder while reading:

Do you have inner peace?

Are you alone?

My review:

Diary of an American Exorcist is a deeply sobering read. It leaves the reader with far more to contemplate than to sensationalize. Rossetti writes with restraint and pastoral concern, offering insight into spiritual battles that are often dismissed, misunderstood, or trivialized in modern culture.

This is a book that gives much to think about, particularly regarding the reality of evil and the vulnerability of the human soul. It gives even more to pray about, as each account underscores the necessity of humility, faith, and spiritual vigilance. Above all, it reminds the reader that spiritual warfare is real, persistent, and rarely dramatic as popular culture imagines it.

Quietly unsettling and spiritually weighty, this book is best read slowly and reflectively. It is not meant to frighten, but to awaken awareness and reinforce the enduring need for prayer, generosity, and resistance against forces that seek to diminish human dignity.
